Today everyone has cell phones. Children in elementary school are equipped with their very own cell phones, and everyone who is anyone in business knows that without these little gadgets life could be a lot harder. Yet where there are such commonly used gadgets, there is also a lot of lore, and cell phones are no exception. Some of them are true, while others are simply figments of the imagination.
Take for example the idea that cell phone batteries will explode if they get warm. If this were true, then anyone who carries around their cell phones in their jacket pocket or even pants pocket would be in danger of injury! Fortunately, it appears that this tale was spun from cell phones that were left in extremely hot environments – perhaps a windshield of a car parked in the blaring sun of Arizona’s high noon sun – and suffered a bit of a melt-down, or in the case of defective manufacture actually exploded. Another myth is more of an assumption. It is said that cell phone accessories fall into the category of one size fits all. This is incorrect, and you will not get the sleek and stylish look you are hoping for if you force your phone into a sleeve it is not made for. Yet another myth states that cell phone reviews are not actually all written by consumers but very often by company plants. This is hard to prove or disprove. The odds are probably very good that some reviews of a cell phone directory or cell phone plans have been penned by the company they are highly lauding, while some of the more scathing remarks might have been concocted by the competition. None of these myths should deter you from actually purchasing a cell phone. Consider that while many of these stories have some basis in truth, only you will be able to tell if a phone and calling plan is right for you – perhaps you will want to look more closely at the prepaid cell phones if you are fearful of going over your allotted minutes – with there now being so many cheap cell phones made by reputable companies, it is hard to find yourself on the losing end. While there are also free cell phones available, keep in mind that they are usually tied to long-term contracts and unless you feel comfortable with signing on the dotted line, it might be better to look at purchasing used cell phones from reputable dealers if money truly is an issue.
